HB 587 -- Meningitis Vaccinations for College Students

This bill requires students of public and private colleges who
live on campus to be vaccinated against meningitis, beginning in
the 2004-2005 school year.  A student may opt out of the
vaccination if the institution provides the student with
information about the risks of the disease and the availability
of the vaccine and the student signs a waiver.  The institutions
must keep records, including waivers, on the meningitis
vaccination status of all students housed on campus.
Institutions are not required to provide or pay for the
vaccinations.
