HB 589 -- Open Containers

This bill prohibits drivers and passengers from possessing or
consuming an open container of an alcoholic beverage in a moving
motor vehicle upon Missouri highways.  However, in any vehicle
designed to carry in excess of eight passengers or to carry
passengers for hire, only the driver and the passenger adjacent
to the driver will be prohibited from drinking alcoholic
beverages or possessing an open container.  In all other areas of
such a vehicle, passengers may possess and consume alcoholic
beverages.
