HB 602 -- Salary Supplements for Teachers in Priority Schools Sponsor: Schoemehl This bill authorizes the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to create a program to provide salary supplement grants to priority schools that employ high quality teachers. A full-time teacher who qualifies may receive a supplement of $3,000 a year for no more than four years. The department will establish what constitutes high quality through administrative rule. A national board-certified teacher will be recognized as meeting the standards for high quality. Eligibility criteria may include grade point average, standardized test scores, and recommendations. Students in Missouri's teacher preparation programs and current teachers may qualify for a high quality designation.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
