HB 686 -- St. Louis School Board Elections Co-Sponsors: Jones, Haywood This bill reestablishes representation by subdistricts in the St. Louis city school district and requires board members to have been residents of the subdistrict from which they are elected for at least one year before election. Three board members will be elected from even-numbered subdistricts in 2005 and every four years thereafter. Four members will be elected from odd-numbered subdistricts in 2007 and every four years thereafter. Members in office on August 28, 2003, will serve out their terms, except that members elected to three-year terms will serve until their successors are elected. Members appointed to vacancies by the mayor must reside in the subdistrict they represent. The bill contains directions for redistricting of subdistricts by the State Board of Education under certain conditions.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
