Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 692 -- Offender Health Care

Co-Sponsors: Viebrock, Sander, Dixon, Whorton, Emery

This bill requires that when offenders in the custody of the
Department of Corrections become ill and are in need of medical
or dental treatment, the cost of care be paid by the offender
through any health insurance policy in which the offender is
eligible to receive benefits, by the acquisition of any source of
income paid to the offender, or by the liquidation of assets
owned by the offender. In cases where there are no insurance,
income, or assets available, the department is responsible for
the costs incurred for medical care.
