Summary of the Perfected Version of the Bill

HCS HB 472 -- COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT DISTRICTS (Johnson, 47)

Current law requires that each community improvement district be
governed by a board with five to 30 directors. Whether elected
or appointed to the board, half of the directors serve for two
years and the other half serve for four. If there are an odd
number of directors, the director who received the least number
of votes serves for two years.

For districts formed after this substitute goes into effect, half
of the directors will serve a term of two years and half will
serve a term of three or four years. The length of the term will
be determined before the election or appointment of the
directors. If an odd number of directors are elected or
appointed, the director who received the least number of votes
will serve for two years.

The substitute also grants districts the power to repair,
restore, or maintain any abandoned cemetery within its
boundaries.

The substitute contains an emergency clause.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
