AN ACT
To amend chapter 67, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to fines for ordinance violations in certain counties.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Chapter 67, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 67.319, to read as follows:
67.319. The county commission of any county of the first classification which has an appointed county counselor and which adopts or has adopted rules, regulations, or ordinances pursuant to any statute classifying a violation of such rules, regulations, or ordinances as a misdemeanor may, by rule, regulation, or ordinance, impose a fine not to exceed one thousand dollars for each violation in lieu of the penalty prescribed for a misdemeanor. In such cases, it shall be the obligation of the county counselor instead of the county prosecuting attorney to prosecute such violations in the associate circuit court of the county. Any fine imposed and collected pursuant to this section shall be deposited in the county general fund to be used for the costs of enforcement of such rules, regulations, and ordinances.
