AN ACT

To amend chapter 226, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to contract disputes involving the department of transportation.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

            Section A. Chapter 226, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 226.096, to read as follows:

            226.096. Any case against the department of transportation as a defendant arising from a contract awarded pursuant to subdivision (9) of subsection 1 of section 226.130 and involving a dispute or controversy in excess of twenty-five thousand dollars shall, upon the request of any party, be settled by arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association in accordance with its Construction Industry Arbitration Rules, and judgment on the award rendered by the arbitrator may be entered in the circuit court of Cole County, Missouri.
