Joe
Smith was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives as a Republican on November 5, 2002, in the 14th
District. Joe Smith has lived in St. Peters for over 25
years. Joe now lives in St. Charles County with his wife
Kimberley P. Smith (formerly Kimberley P. Collins). Joe met his wife Kimberley in the Spring of 2000. The
two became engaged at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. and were
married on November 16,
2002, at St. Dominick Catholic Church in Washington, D.C. Kimberley and Joe look
forward to starting a family in St. Charles County. Joe is the son of Richard and Peggy Smith of St. Peters. Joe has two brothers, Stephen of St. Peter;,
and John, his wife Kelly, along with their children Julianna,
Jessica, and Anthony, live in O’Fallon; and one sister, Mary, of the City of
St. Charles. Joe and his family have
been members of Saints Joachim and Ann Catholic Church since it’s inception in
1981.
Joe is a product of the Francis Howell School
District and a 1991 graduate of Francis Howell High School. Joe received an undergraduate education
degree at St. Charles County Community
College where he received his Associate of
Arts degree in July of 1998. Building on
this success, Joe attended Lindenwood University and graduated
“cum laude” (with honors) in June of 2000, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree
in Corporate Communications. For eleven
and a half years, Joe has worked for United Parcel Service (UPS) as a driver in
Earth City, Missouri.
While working his way through college, Joe also found time
to volunteer at his church and to help other community service in our
community. Joe has volunteered his time
for Saints Joachim and Ann’s Adopt a Family Christmas Program and other St. Charles County
functions.
Joe’s best political experience was gained through his
service as an intern to United States Senators Kit Bond and John Ashcroft in
Clayton, Missouri. Additionally, he
serves as treasurer and is a past vice president of the St. Charles County
Young Republicans. Joe is also a member
of the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce and the St. Charles County
Pachyderms. In 2000, he spent two weeks
working in Jefferson City for former
State Senator Franc Flotron, District 7, and then
State Representative Jon Dolan, District 13, so as to learn more about the
state legislative process.
