Rep. Steve Hobbs, a Republican, represents parts of Audrain, Boone,
Callaway and Monroe counties (District 21) in the Missouri House of
Representatives. He was elected to the
House in November 2002. Rep. Hobbs serves as a Deputy Majority Whip.
In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Hobbs is president of Hobbs
Farms, Inc., a company he started with his father in 1997. They raise cattle and grow corn, soybeans,
wheat and grain sorghum.
Rep. Hobbs is very active in his community. He has served on the Audrain County board of the Missouri Farm
Bureau since 1995, and is currently secretary/treasurer and legislative
chairman. He has also served as president
of the organization and is currently chair of the Beef Advisory Council and on
the Resolutions Board. Rep. Hobbs is
also a member of the following organizations:
Audrain Cattlemen’s Association, past president; Mexico MFA Oil, board
member; and Mexico MFA Exchange Board, Extension Council representative. He was elected to the Missouri Beef Industry
Council in 2000 and is a member of the Soybean Association.
Rep. Hobbs currently serves as the Audrain director for the Monroe
County Water Board, a post he has held since 1996 and is a grassroots lobbyist
for Consolidated Electric. He was also past
co-president of the McMillan School PTA and a member of the Children’s Therapy
and Early Education School Parents Club.
He is a member of Rush Hill Community Church and has been on the church
board.
A 1978 graduate of Mexico High School, Rep. Hobbs bought his first farm
in Audrain County in 1979.
Born February 5, 1960, in Mexico, Rep. Hobbs resides there with his
wife, Carolyn and their two daughters:
Shelby and Kelsay.
