Rep. Therese Sander, a Republican, represents
Chariton and Randolph counties and part of Macon County (District 22) in the
Missouri House of Representatives. She was elected to the House in November
2002.
Rep. Sander is vice chair of the Agriculture
Committee. In 2003, Rep Sander was appointed to the Missouri Rural Economic
Development Council and to the Council of State Governments' Agriculture and
Rural Policy Task Force for
2003-2004.
In addition to her legislative duties, Rep. Sander is
a farmer. She also taught fifth and sixth grade in Moberly from 1970-71. Rep.
Sander has been honored with the E.X.C.E.L. VII (Excellence in Community
Education & Leadership) award in 2000. She is a member of the following
organizations: Randolph County Farm Bureau,
promotion and education chair; Missouri Cattlemen's
Association; Missouri Pork Producer's Association; Missouri State Teacher's
Association; Missouri Right to Life; and the Moberly Area Chamber of Commerce.
Rep. Sander is also a member of St. Pius X Church in Moberly.
A 1966 graduate of Duchesne High School, Rep. Sander
was salutatorian of her class. She attended St. Louis University and received
her bachelor of science in elementary education from the University of
Missouri-St. Louis in 1970.
Born November 22, 1948, in Columbia, Rep. Sander
lives in near Moberly with her husband, Ted. They have four adult daughters:
Tamara, Kathleen, Andrea and Cecelia.
