92nd General Assembly
Rep. Vicky Riback Wilson, a
Democrat, represents the eastern portion of Columbia and Boone County (District
25) in the Missouri House of Representatives.
Elected to her first two-year term in 1996, Rep.
Wilson chairs the Childrenıs Services Commission. She serves on the Child
Abuse, Custody, and Neglect Commission; the Children's Trust Fund; and the
Board of Trustees of the Missouri Investment Trust.
Rep. Wilson also serves on the Board of Directors for
Friends of Peace Studies; the Alumni Advisory Board for the MU College of
Education; the Advisory Board for the Department of Human Development and
Family Studies; the Advisory Board for the School of Health Professions; and
participates in a variety of community organizations. She was selected as a 1999 Flemming Fellow, and in 2000
participated in the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government Program for
Senior Executives in State and Local Government.
Rep. Wilson's work has been recognized with awards
from diverse groups, such as: the MU Alumni Association; the American Cancer
Society; the National Association of Social Workers; the Homebuilders
Association; the Missouri Bar Association; the American Federation of State,
County, and Municipal Employees; the Missouri Womenıs Council; the National
Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI); the MU Sinclair School of Nursing; the
Missouri Association for Social Welfare; the Missouri Recovery Network; Phoenix
Programs; Missouri Citizens for the Arts; GRO; and others. Wilson has also received the 2001 Mildred
Bringewatt Social Justice Award; the People First of Missouri Legislator of the
Year award; Child Advocacy Award; and was inducted into a university honorary
society in recognition of her commitment to the University of Missouri. In 2000 she received the Human Rights Award
of the University of Missouri, the Betty Saunders Award for Outstanding
Democratic Elected Official, and the DOVE Award for her work against domestic
violence.
Rep. Wilson lived and worked in Uganda as a Peace
Corps volunteer in 1969 and 70 and, in Indonesia, in 1973-74. She has taught Head Start, high school,
college, and community classes and worked as a community arts administrator. Rep.
Wilson worked for more than 10 years at the University of Missouri as an
administrator and a leadership educator for youth and adults throughout the
state.
Born in Columbia, Rep. Wilson is a 1964 graduate of University
High School. She received a B.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania
and a masterıs degree in higher and adult education from the University of
Missouri-Columbia.
Self-employed as a property manager and financial officer, Rep. Wilson resides in Columbia with her husband. They have two adult children.
