92nd General Assembly
Representative Cathy Jolly represents part of Jackson County (District
45) in the Missouri General Assembly. She
was appointed by the governor to serve on the State Council for Interstate
Adult Offender Supervision. In addition
to her legislative duties she is a licensed attorney. She has served as a deputy majority whip and as the president of
the Women Legislators of Missouri.
Before being elected, Rep.
Jolly served as an assistant prosecuting attorney for the Jackson County
Prosecutor’s Office. She was coordinator for the Drug Abatement Response Team
(DART). Working closely with law
enforcement officials, Rep. Jolly prosecuted criminals who owned drug houses
and drug related properties. She shut
down drug houses and worked to restore safety to neighborhoods impacted by
drugs. In this role, she was able to
expose other crimes such as child and elder neglect and abuse. Other job assignments with Jackson County
have include prosecuting for the Division of Family Support, where holding
parents accountable for paying child support is a top priority.
Rep.
Jolly is a member of the following organizations: South Kansas City Citizens
Crusade Against Crime, the Greater Kansas City Women’s Political Caucus, South
Kansas City and Grandview Chambers of Commerce, Committee for County Progress,
Citizens Association, Red Bridge Lions Club and the Kansas City Metropolitan
Bar Association.
Among Rep. Jolly's honors
and awards are: the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association Young Lawyer of
the Year 2002; one of six women selected by the Kansas City Star’s Women to
Watch 2000; the Order of the Bench and Robe, Order of the Barristers, the
Greater Kansas City Women's Political Caucus Torch Award, and ACT Missouri
Taking Action Leadership Award 2001.
Rep. Jolly
received a bachelor of science degree in political science from the University
of Missouri-Columbia and graduated with distinction from the University of
Missouri-Kansas City with a juris doctorate degree.
Rep. Jolly and her husband Scott live in South Kansas
City.
