REP. CATHERINE L. HANAWAY

92nd General Assembly

 

Rep. Catherine L. Hanaway, a Republican, was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 1998.  She represents the 87th District, which encompasses part of St. Louis County.  In 2003, Speaker Hanaway was elected as Speaker of the Missouri House. 

 

Speaker Hanaway was named as one of the Missouri Lawyers of the Year by Missouri Lawyers Weekly and was recognized as one of the St. Louis Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” in addition to being named by the Journal as a “Leader to Watch”.  The Associated Industries of Missouri recently presented her with the Voice of Missouri Business Award.  Other Awards Speaker Hanaway received are the 2001 Health Policy Leadership Award from the Missouri Hospital Association, 2002 and 2001 Lewis & Clark Statesman Award from St. Louis Regional Chamber & Growth Association, 2002 Spirit of Enterprise Award from the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Missouri Bar Legislative Award, and the SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital Outstanding Child Advocate Honoree.

 

 Speaker Hanaway earned her law degree from Catholic University of America and worked in the law firm of Peper, Martin, Jensen, Maichel & Hetlage.  She currently resides in Warson Woods with her husband Christopher and their daughter Lucy.  Speaker Hanaway and her family belong to Ste. Genevieve Dubois Catholic Church, and she serves on the board of directors of the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition.
