Rep. Jason
Crowell, a Republican, represents most of the City of Cape Girardeau within
Cape Girardeau County and part of Scott County (District 158) in the Missouri
House of Representatives.
First elected in November 2000, and re-elected in
November 2002, Rep. Crowell serves as the Majority Floor Leader, chair of the
Rules Committee and chair of the Ethics Committee. As Majority Floor
Leader, Rep. Crowell manages the legislative activity on the House floor.
In addition to
his legislative duties, Rep. Crowell is a practicing attorney with Oliver,
Oliver & Waltz, P.C., in Cape Girardeau and is licensed to practice law in
three states – Missouri, Arkansas and Illinois.
In 2002, Rep.
Crowell received the following awards:
the Missouri Farm Bureau Friend of Agriculture Award, the Legislative
Award from the Missouri Bar; the Missouri Association for Career and Technical
Education Legislative Recognition Award; and the Missouri Supreme Court
Legislative Award.
Rep. Crowell is a
life-long member of Centenary United Methodist Church and serves on the board
of directors of the Southeast Missouri Network Against Sexual Violence and on
the University of Missouri Delta Center advisory board. He is a member of the Cape Girardeau Noon
Lions Club, Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce, Southeast Missouri State
University Copper Dome Society and Booster Club, Cape Girardeau Elks Lodge 639,
Theta Xi Fraternity, the Southeast Missouri Pachyderm Club, and the Missouri
and Cape Girardeau County Farm Bureau.
Rep. Crowell is also an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America.
A 1990 graduate
of Cape Central High School, Rep. Crowell received his B.S.B.A. in economics
from Southeast Missouri State University in 1995 and his juris doctorate from
the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Law in 1998.
Rep. Crowell was
born February 3, 1972 in Cape Girardeau where he currently resides.
