HB 1065 -- COURT COSTS

SPONSOR:  Baker

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Judiciary
by a vote of 14 to 3.

Under current law, a surcharge of $10 is collected in certain
criminal proceedings filed in the Greene County court system, to
be used for operating the county judicial facility.  This bill
authorizes Cass County to collect this surcharge.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2005, FY 2006, and
FY 2007.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the county is growing so rapidly
that these funds would really help.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Baker; and Honorable
William B. Collins.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
