HB 1071 -- CONVEYANCE IN LAWRENCE COUNTY

SPONSOR:  Goodman

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 18 to 0.

This bill authorizes the Governor to convey the National Guard
Armory Building located in Lawrence County to the City of Pierce
City.  Upon conveyance, the building will be known as the Ray A.
Carver Building.

The bill contains an emergency clause.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill is necessary to help
Pierce City rebuild after the devastating tornadoes of 2003.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Goodman.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
