HB 1382, HCA 1 -- VETERANS' HISTORICAL EDUCATION TRUST FUND SPONSOR: Jackson COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Tax Policy by a vote of 15 to 2. This bill creates the Veterans' Historical Education Trust Fund in the State Treasury. The fund will be administered by the Missouri Veterans Commission and will be used for the purpose of contributing to the preservation of freedom and financing veterans' outreach and educational programs. The State Treasurer is required to deposit all amounts received or designated to the fund which include grants, gifts, appropriations, and moneys received from federal sources. Funds appropriated by the General Assembly from the fund can only be used by the commission for conducting veterans' outreach and educational activities. Unexpended balances remaining in the fund will not revert to the credit of the General Revenue Fund. HCA 1 -- Makes a technical change related to the transfer of funds. FISCAL NOTE: Not available at time of printing. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will allow historical and personal stories and documents of our veterans to be preserved for future reference.
