HCS HB 1449 -- SPECIAL LICENSE PLATES SPONSOR: Crawford (Bruns) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Transportation and Motor Vehicles by a vote of 18 to 0. This substitute allows for special license plates for members of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers and for any person who served in the military operation known as Operation Iraqi Freedom. To obtain the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers special plate, individuals must obtain an emblem-use authorization statement from the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers Educational Foundation ($25 contribution) and present it to the Department of Revenue along with a payment of a $15 fee in addition to the registration fee and any other documents required by law. Revenue from contributions will be used solely for the purpose of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers Educational Foundation. To obtain the Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran plate, applicants must furnish proof of service in Operation Iraqi Freedom and their current status in a branch of the armed forces or as an honorably discharged veteran and pay a $15 fee in addition to the registration fee and any other documents required by law. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on General Revenue Fund in FY 2005, FY 2006, and FY 2007. Estimated Effect on Other State Funds of a cost of $9,006 in FY 2005, an income of $5,750 in FY 2006, and an income of $5,750 in FY 2007.
