HB 1622 -- COSMETOLOGY SPONSOR: Wasson COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Professional Registration and Licensing by a vote of 14 to 0. This bill expands the definition of "cosmetology establishment" to include rented space by a licensed cosmetologist for the purpose of providing cosmetology services in a licensed establishment. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2005, FY 2006, and FY 2007. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill clarifies the difference between a master salon owner and a booth renter within a cosmetology establishment. This will allow the State Board of Cosmetology to reduce the fees for booth renters. Testifying for the bill were Representative Wasson; and State Board of Cosmetology. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee. Bob Dominique, Legislative AnalystCopyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
