HCS HB 1631 & 1623 -- SUPERVISION OF PAROLED PERSONS SPONSOR: Wright (Dixon) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Special Committee on General Laws by a vote of 9 to 0. This substitute repeals the provision of the law which requires county superintendents of public welfare in third and fourth classification counties to provide supervision for persons who are on parole from the state penitentiary, the Missouri Reformatory, and certain training schools. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2005, FY 2006, and FY 2007. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the section contains language dating from the era of segregation, pertaining to institutions that no longer exist. Testifying for the bill were Representatives Dixon and Brooks. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
