Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HCS HB 883 -- HIGHWAY DESIGNATION

SPONSOR:  Crawford (Graham)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Transportation and Motor Vehicles by a vote of 20 to 0.

This substitute designates a portion of Interstate 70, between
mile marker 69 and 123 in Saline, Cooper, and Boone counties, as
the "U. S. Submarine Veterans' Memorial Highway."  This 54-mile
stretch will represent the 54 submarines lost during wartime and
the Cold War.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2005, FY 2006, and
FY 2007.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say this license plate will be a fitting
honor for Missouri submarine veterans.

Testifying for the bill were Representatives Graham and Johnson
(90); and Herman Smith.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
