HCS HB 988 -- COUNTY POLITICAL PARTY COMMITTEES SPONSOR: May (Yates) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Elections by a vote of 11 to 1. This substitute increases the number of county political party committee members to be elected from the second and third most populous townships outside Kansas City in Jackson County. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2005, FY 2006, and FY 2007. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the eastern part of Jackson County is falling behind in county political party representation, and the bill will help to equalize the representation. Testifying for the bill were Representatives Yates and LeVota. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
