Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 1112 -- Housemovers

Sponsor: Crawford

This bill requires all persons who engage in moving houses to
have a valid housemover license issued by the Highways and
Transportation Commission. Applicants for licensing must be at
least 21 years of age and possess a valid class A commercial
driver's license.

The Chief Engineer of the Department of Transportation may waive
the requirement to stop at a weigh station for housemovers on a
trip-by-trip basis.

Only in the case of an emergency, irrespective of the route
indicated on the special permit, an alternate route may be
followed if directed by a certified peace office. The chief
engineer, a peace officer, or a commercial motor vehicle
enforcement officer or inspector may void a permit if any
condition of the permit is violated or if any person
misrepresents any information on the application for a license or
permit or fraudulently obtains or uses a license or permit.
