HB 1721 -- Motor Vehicle Accidents Sponsor: Jetton This bill prohibits the recovery of damages incurred in a motor vehicle accident when the person suffering damages: (1) Was driving while intoxicated; (2) Was driving with excessive blood alcohol content; (3) Owns a vehicle involved in the accident for which there is no liability insurance or proof of financial responsibility as required by law; or (4) Was operating a vehicle involved in the accident and owns any vehicle for which there is no liability insurance or proof of financial responsibility as required by law. The person's insurer will not be liable for indemnification of a person when he or she is in violation of one of these provisions. A person without the required liability insurance coverage may recover damages when he or she is injured in an accident caused by a person who has been convicted of driving while intoxicated or driving with excessive blood alcohol content.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
