Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 787 -- Criminal Sentencing

Sponsor: Jolly

Under current law, if a criminal statute is amended to reduce the
penalty, all defendants are sentenced according to the new law,
even if their crime was committed before the law was amended.
This bill repeals that provision.

The bill also repeals the provision which allows the Board of
Probation and Parole to convert an offender's consecutive prison
sentences into concurrent sentences.
