AN ACT

To amend chapter 285, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to employee's wages, with a penalty provision.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

            Section A. Chapter 285, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 285.107, to read as follows:

            285.107. 1. It shall be unlawful for any employer to deduct from an employee's wages the dollar value, in whole or in part, of any merchandise stolen by a customer from the employer.

            2. Any employer who violates the provisions of subsection 1 of this section is guilty of a class A misdemeanor and in addition shall be required to reimburse the employee in an amount equal to any wages unlawfully deducted plus five hundred dollars.
