AN ACT

To repeal section 334.190, RSMo, and to enact in lieu thereof one new section relating to midwifery.





Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:


            Section A. Section 334.190, RSMo, is repealed and one new section enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as section 334.190, to read as follows:

            334.190. 1. The practice of midwifery, including the practice of direct entry midwifery, is separate and distinct from the practice of medicine.

            2. It is unlawful for any person licensed as a midwife only to engage in [any other branch of medical practice] the practice of medicine or to advertise himself or herself as doctor, doctress or physician or to use any letters before or after his or her name on a sign or otherwise, indicating that he or she is authorized to or does engage in [any other branch of medical practice] the practice of medicine.
