AN ACT

To amend chapter 488, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to court costs.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

            Section A. Chapter 488, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 488.5331, to read as follows:

            488.5331. 1. In all criminal cases including violations of any county ordinance or any violation of criminal or traffic laws of this state, including an infraction, there shall be assessed as costs a surcharge in the amount of one dollar. No such surcharge shall be collected in any proceeding involving a violation of an ordinance or state law when the proceeding or defendant has been dismissed by the court or when costs are to be paid by the state, county or municipality. Such surcharge shall be collected and disbursed by the clerk of the court as provided by sections 488.010 to 488.020. Moneys collected from this surcharge shall be payable to the sheriff of the county where the violation occurred to offset expenses for maintaining a web page on the Internet which lists all sex offenders residing in their county who are registered as sexual offenders pursuant to the provisions of sections 589.400 to 589.425, RSMo.

            2. All sheriffs shall establish and maintain a web page on the Internet which lists the following about sexual offenders residing in their county who are registered pursuant to the provisions of sections 589.400 to 589.425, RSMo:

            (1) The name of the offender;

            (2) The offender's address;

            (3) The offenses that the sexual offender was required to register for; and

            (4) A current photograph of the offender.
