AN ACT

To amend chapter 534, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to unlawful detainer actions.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

            Section A. Chapter 534, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 534.135, to read as follows:

            534.135. On or before the day fixed for the defendant's appearance, the defendant may appear and answer and assert any legal or equitable defense, setoff, or counterclaim against the complainant relating to or arising out of such property, rental, tenancy, or otherwise related to determining the defendant's right to possession of the property or premises.
