Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HCS HB 108 -- COPAYMENTS FOR PRESCRIPTION DRUGS

SPONSOR:  Cooper, 155 (Schaaf)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Health Care Policy by a vote of 10 to 0.

This substitute specifies that if the usual and customary retail
price of a prescription drug is less than the copayment applied
by a health maintenance organization or health insurer, then the
enrollee is only required to pay the usual and customary retail
price of the prescription drug.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on General Revenue Fund in FY 2006, FY
2007, and FY 2008.  Estimated Income on Other State Funds of
$8,000 in FY 2006, $0 in FY 2007, and $0 in FY 2008.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill will save consumers
money when the retail price of a prescription drug is less than
their copayment.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Schaaf.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
