HB 127 -- FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT BOARDS

SPONSOR:  Bivins

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 14 to 0.

This bill limits the attendance fees that fire protection
district board members can receive for attending board meetings
to one per calendar week.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2006, FY 2007, and
FY 2008.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill is aimed at stopping
the purported practice of holding multiple consecutive meetings.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Bivins; Lewis Rice,
LLC; Monarch Fire Protection District; West County EMS and Fire;
Metro West Fire Protection District; Creve Coeur Fire Protection
District; and St. Louis County Municipal League.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
