Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HB 236 -- NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY DESIGNATION

SPONSOR:  Goodman

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Corrections and Public Institutions by a vote of 8 to 0.

This bill designates the new armory located in Pierce City,
Lawrence County, as the "Lawrence A. Witt National Guard Armory."

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2006, FY 2007, and
FY 2008.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that Lawrence Witt was a war hero,
and his family has been very involved with the community.  They
feel it is a fitting tribute to name the new National Guard
armory after him.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Goodman.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
