HB 343, HCA 1 -- COUNTY BUDGET OFFICERS

SPONSOR:  Baker (123)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 14 to 0.

This bill designates the presiding commissioner of Cass County as
the county budget officer.  Currently, the county auditor serves
as the budget officer.

HCA 1 -- Designates the presiding commissioner of Cole County as
the county budget officer.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2006, FY 2007, and
FY 2008.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill will make the county
budget process more efficient.

Testifying for the bill were Representatives Baker (123) and
Deeken; and Cass County Commission.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
