HB 395 -- WATER SUPPLY DISTRICTS SPONSOR: Wood COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Local Government by a vote of 16 to 0. Currently, public water supply district boards which are dependent upon purchases of water to supply their needs are allowed to sell all or part of their district property to cities owning waterworks systems. This bill extends that power to all public water supply districts. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2006, FY 2007, and FY 2008. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill allows water districts to sell some or all of their assets to a city, if both parties agree. This is not limited to a specific water district, so any district in the state can do this. Testifying for the bill were Representative Wood; City of Branson; and Taney County Water District No. 3. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee. Julie Jinkens McNitt, Legislative AnalystCopyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
