HCS HB 47 -- CONSOLIDATED PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICTS

SPONSOR:  Johnson, 47 (Brown, 30)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 14 to 0.

This substitute requires trustees of consolidated public library
districts to reside in the library district as well as in the
county they represent on the district board.

The substitute contains an emergency clause.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2006, FY 2007, and
FY 2008.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that trustees on the consolidated
public library district board should live within the district.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Brown (30).

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
