HB 121 -- Drug Trafficking

Sponsor:  Haywood

This bill repeals the provisions of law which allow persistent
offender sentencing enhancements in drug trafficking cases.
Under current law, a person convicted of a third drug-related
felony may be sentenced as a persistent offender, receiving a
sentence of 10 to 30 years imprisonment without the possibility
of probation or parole.
