Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 218 -- Driver's Licenses

This bill requires an applicant for a driver's license or a
temporary permit who is under 18 years of age or who is not an
emancipated minor to present evidence that he or she is enrolled
in a high school, has an attendance rate greater than 90%, and
maintains a grade point average of 1.75 or higher or shows
satisfactory progress in an alternative education program.  The
bill contains provisions for persons that are home schooled.

License suspension provisions for those who fail to meet or
maintain the requirements of the bill are specified.
