HB 512 -- Employee Information

This bill provides that an employer will be immune from civil
liability or any consequences for providing a former employee a
letter as requested stating the nature, character, duration of
service, and for what cause, if any, the employee was discharged
or voluntarily quit.  The employer will not be immune if the
letter contained information that he or she knew was false.

An employer is allowed to respond to a written request concerning
a current or former employee if the employer believes the
requesting entity is an agent of a prospective employer or a law
enforcement agency.
