HB 51 -- School District Transportation

This bill requires the State Board of Education to annually audit
the transportation contracts of school districts, including
bidding procedures and rates.  School districts that provide bus
services and private companies providing bus services to public
school districts must consult the sex offender registration list
before selecting bus stops.  Districts must also have student
passenger manifests with home addresses and destinations of
students so passengers not on the manifest may be denied access.
Each fall, districts must provide parents information about their
transportation programs, including the name of the bus company,
safety inspection results, and corporate bus safety information,
if any.
