HB 545 -- Failing to Yield the Right-of-Way Violations Sponsor: Zweifel This bill allows a court to assess surcharges against any defendant convicted of failing to yield the right-of-way when that violation causes an accident. When the violation causes physical injury, the court may assess a surcharge up to $200 against the defendant and order the suspension of the defendant's license for 30 days. When the violation causes serious physical injury, the surcharge may be up to $500 and the suspension up to 90 days. When the violation causes a fatality, the surcharge may be up to $1,000 and the suspension up to six months. These surcharge payements will be credited to the Motorcycle Safety Trust Fund.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
