HB 686 -- County Counselors Sponsor: Wood Currently, only first classification noncharter counties are authorized to appoint county counselors. This bill removes that limitation. Currently, certain counties with significant lake shoreline are authorized, upon voter approval, to impose a single retail sales tax not to exceed 1.5% for the purpose of promoting water quality, infrastructure, and tourism. The bill modifies that authorization so that voters can approve one or more retail sales taxes not to exceed 1.5% in the aggregate for the purpose of affecting water quality, infrastructure, or tourism, singularly or in any combination.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
