HB 792 -- Fire Marshals Sponsor: Jackson If a city requires that a permit for a building be obtained but does not require an electrical inspection by an electrical inspector, this bill requires the city's fire marshal to review the electrical plans for the building to ensure that they are in compliance with the National Electric Code as developed by the National Fire Protection Association or the electrical code adopted by the city. The fire marshal must make the builder aware of any needed changes to be in compliance with the prevailing electrical code. If the builder incorporates all of the fire marshal's required changes, the fire marshal cannot require additional changes after the building is complete. If a city requires that electrical inspections be done by an electrical inspector, the fire marshal must limit his or her inspection of the building to fire safety issues, may not duplicate the electrical inspection, and cannot require the builder to make changes which are not required by the electrical inspector. However, a fire marshal may require a change to a completed building if the fire marshal can demonstrate that it is required to bring the building into compliance with the prevailing electrical code.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
