Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 910 -- Missouri Medical Malpractice Insurance Company Act

Sponsor: Baker (25)

This bill establishes the Missouri Medical Malpractice Insurance
Company Act and the Missouri Medical Malpractice Insurance
Company to provide rural health care providers with innovative
and low-cost medical malpractice insurance coverage.

The company will be managed by a board of directors initially
appointed by the Governor. The board will hire an administrator
to oversee the company and create a risk management program to
help decrease medical malpractice claims for policyholders.

The company will be audited annually, and the open record audit
report will be filed with the Director of the Department of
Insurance and the administrator. The company's loss experience
will be reviewed annually to determine if a cash dividend or
credit can be allowed to health care providers insured with the
company in accordance with criteria approved by the board.
