Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 931 -- Rights of Crime Victims

Sponsor: Harris (23)

This bill defines "covered employers" and "eligible employees"
and requires covered employers to allow eligible employees who
are victims of crime to take leave time to attend criminal
proceedings. An eligible employee may not be dismissed or lose
seniority or precedence while absent from work due to his or her
attendance at a criminal proceeding. A covered employer may not
refuse to hire, discharge from employment, or discriminate
against an eligible employee in compensation or other terms and
conditions of employment because the employee leaves work to
attend a criminal proceeding.
