AN ACT

To amend chapter 160, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to the Missouri School Improvement Program.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

Section A. Chapter 160, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 160.527, to read as follows:

160.527. Any school district with more than five thousand students receiving full accreditation for a period of five consecutive years by the department of elementary and secondary education may obtain a waiver from the department allowing such district to choose its own standards for Missouri school improvement program qualification. If such district demonstrates through a valid scientific method that its students are performing at reasonable standards, the qualification standards required under the Missouri school improvement program shall not apply to the district. This section shall supercede all other waiver rules for eligible districts.
