AN ACT

To amend chapter 10, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to the designation of a state poem.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

Section A. Chapter 10, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 10.055, to read as follows:

10.055. The poem entitled "Missouri", written by Robert G. DeLair, is the official state poem of Missouri:

Missouri

One surely can't speak for the Almighty above

but it's certain this State is filled with His love.

We're afforded great lakes among rolling hills,

along with great cities, towns, and old mills.

Our ancestors saw strength in the grizzly bear

for the settler's courage was certainly there.

So in all the large burgs or in any small town

the pride of its people is true and profound.

Of tradition, we're proud and protect it so,

for from humble pasts we surely did grow.

As our history is rich in tradition and pride,

so these virtues we hold and in which we abide.

A powerful force this land it did mold

and it Is of beauty for the eyes to behold.

So visit Missouri and see it firsthand

and cherish the gifts that are in this great land.
