AN ACT

To repeal section 168.201, and to enact in lieu thereof two new sections relating to school districts.





Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:


            Section A. Section 168.201, RSMo, is repealed and two new sections enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as sections 162.1065 and 168.201, to read as follows:

            162.1065. In any school district with boundaries that overlap two or more county boundaries where the counties are of different classes, the size of the school district shall be determined by the class of the county in which the majority of the school district is located.

            168.201. 1. The board of education in all districts except metropolitan districts may employ and contract with a superintendent for a term not to exceed three years from the time of making the contract, and may employ such other servants and agents as it deems necessary, and prescribe their powers, duties, compensation and term of office or employment which shall not exceed three years. It shall provide and keep a corporate seal.

            2. For any superintendent employed in any school district whose boundaries overlap counties of the third and fourth classification, such superintendents' salaries shall be capped at an amount equal to 1.5 times the highest paid teacher salary.
