AN ACT

To amend chapter 321, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to the board of directors of a fire protection district.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

            Section A. Chapter 321, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 321.165, to read as follows:

            321.165. Within six months of election to the board, the members of the board shall attend and complete an educational seminar or conference, or other suitable training on the role and duties of a board member of a fire protection district. The board of directors shall determine the educational seminars or conferences, or other suitable training that will meet the requirements of this section; provided that such approved seminars, conferences, or training at a minimum provide information on all relevant state statutes and rules, including the state sunshine laws, and the financial responsibilities and ethical considerations associated with membership on the board of directors.
