SB 4, HCA 1 -- APPLICABILITY OF WORKERS' COMPENSATION LAW

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Workforce
Development and Workplace Safety by a vote of 8 to 4.

This bill clarifies the applicability of the Missouri Workers'
Compensation Law to certain injuries received and occupational
diseases contracted by workers employed by Missouri employers.

HCA 1 -- Adds an emergency clause to the bill.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2006, FY 2007, and
FY 2008.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill is needed to clarify
some provisions of the current Missouri Workers' Compensation Law
regarding certain injuries received and occupational diseases
contracted by workers employed by Missouri employers.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Crowell; Associated
Industries of Missouri; Missouri Chamber of Commerce; Association
of General Contractors of Missouri; Missouri Retailers
Association; and Missouri Grocers Association.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
